ARA – differential robot platform

Following my first tutorial on autonomous robots, here’s an update, with some stuff I managed to put together the last days:

A new platform, that I called Ara, using 4 wheels (soon to add tracks) and 2 geared motors for differential control:

The wheels are made of 3 CD’s glued together. Tape was added on the circumference, and black marker was used to color the shiny exterior faces. A cylindrical metal piece was drilled to allow a forced screw to hold the motor axis. The motors where put in place using metal pieces. Almost entire construction is made of metal, and using some strong DC Geared motors with 30rpm / 12V. You can see most of the construction in the pictures above, but feel free to ask if more construction details are required.

Cheers,
Radu Motisan
