Electronic Ballast for fluorescent lamps

By Radu Motisan Posted on April 18th, 2011 , 999 Views (Rate 1.3)

A simple electronic ballast running on 220V designed to power up to four small power fluorescent lamps. It uses the IR2153, and a half-bridge configuration with 500V mosfets. The frequency is set to 30KHz.

Schematics:

The C5 and C7 caps are important as they select the current flowing through the tube's filament. You might want to measure that current before actually applying the tube, to make sure you don't damage the filament.
